My name is Vegard Busengdal, born 2nd December 1993 in Aalesund, Norway. At the age of 6, I discovered a sport that later would make me travel around the world competing to be the very best there is with a pair of skis on my feet. As a youngster I was a soccer player and a part of a marching band, but as I got older I realized that if I wanted to be good as an alpine skier, I had to dedicate 100% of my time to that sport. Standing here looking back, I don’t regret making that decision. Now, after all these years I find myself in the United States of America, living in a dessert, in a completely new community and environment than I’m used to. I had big expectations getting here, and I didn’t know a lot of the American culture and how the college circus worked. I must say, I was astounded to see the level of professionalism the ski team and the Lobo family showed me. From my first experience in the weight room where I almost passed out, to be taken care of in the training room by doctors and all the staff members, and getting back in class surrounded by other Lobos. One does really feel special and a part of a big family trying their best to be as successful as they can be. Go Lobos!
